European and German champions Bayern Munich will be going into the UEFA Super Cup finals against Sevilla on the back of a sensational season that includes a run of 31 unbeaten games of which 30 have been wins.

The sterling run of form includes crushing wins over Chelsea and Barcelona and the final win over Paris St Germain to clinch the UEFA Champions League.

Hansi Flick's men have taken off where they left off last season, blanking Schalke 8-0 in the 2020-21 Bundesliga opener on Friday.

Robert Lewandowski who scored 55 goals from his 46 appearances last season will be at the forefront of the starting list against Sevilla.

Serge Gnabry, the other major destroyer for the Bavarians is another obvious choice.

Coach Hansi Flick will be in some dilemma as to who to choose – to start with Champions League final hero Kingsley Coman or recall a fully-recovered and in-form Leroy Sane.

Talented Canadian defender Alphonso Davies was benched in the win over Schalke but is expected to feature in the Budapest showdown.

The Bayern line-up for the Super Cup final can thus look like this:

Neuer (goal); Pavard, Sule, Boateng, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Gnabry, Muller, Coman/Sane; Lewandowski

The only piece of action Sevilla have been involved in after their thrilling UEFA Europa Cup final win over Inter Milan was a friendly against Levante on September 15th which they won 3-2.

One interesting arrival at the Spanish club is Ivan Rakitic from Barcelona who comes in after departing the club six years ago.

After having opted to rest in Croatia's starting campaign in the UEFA Nations' League, the star midfielder is expected to be Julen Lopetegui's first choice for Friday's Super Cup clash.

Luuk de Jong who scored a brace in the Europa League final win will in all probability lead the attack with Lucas Ocampos and Suso flanking him.

Sevilla's possible starting lineup:

Bounou(goal); Navas, Kounde, Carlos, Escudero; Rakitic, Gudelj, Fernando; Suso, De Jong, Ocampos

Sevilla have knocked out clubs like Roma, Wolves and Manchester United in their run up to the Europa League final win. But coming up against a side like Bayern Munich will be a different ball-game all together.

Their only previous encounter against the Bundesliga giants was in a Champions League bout in which they lost 1-2. But that was way back in 2017-18 and against a less rampant Bayern side.

This will be the fourth time Bayern will be competing in the UEFA Super Cup and will be hoping to make it back-to-back triumphs having defeated Chelsea in 2013.

Sevilla have more experience of playing in this one-off fixture given that this is their fourth appearance in six seasons, though they have tasted defeat in each of the previous three games.

So, it's hard to see them stopping a side like Bayern Munich especially with the kind of form they are in.
