2019-20 English Premier League preview: Leeds United V Manchester City – Elland Road – October 3, 2020 – 17:30hrs BST

As luck would have it, Leeds' entry into the Premier League was marked by an opening fixture against Liverpool.

The tidings looked bad as they went down by a goal in as early as the 4th minute.

But the Whites were not ready to take things lying down as they replied to each goal by the champions with one of their own before finally relenting 3-4 in a drama-packed game at Anfield.

Marcelo Bielsa's men haven't looked back since then, beating Fulham 4-3 and Sheffield United 1-0 and will now get ready to host Manchester City at Elland Road stadium on October 3, Saturday.

Pep Guardiola's Man City started this season with a win an emphatic 1-3 against Wolves but their previous weekend's 2-5 humiliation to Leicester in their own backyard, the Etihad, will weigh on them when they visit Elland Road.

Things seem to be improving for Manchester City on the fitness front, with Aymeric Laporte and Bernardo Silva back in a midweek EFL Cup win over Burnley.

Still out with injuries are Gabriel Jesus, Sergio Aguero, Joao Cancelo and Oleksandr Zinchenko and Ilkay Gundogan down with illness.

In the absence of center-forwards Aguero and Jesus, the onus of getting goals will once again fall of Raheem Sterling.

But he will have the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and new signing Ferran Torres to support him in the attack. The defense gets a fillip after the return of the solid Laporte.

For Leeds United, Adam Forshaw with a hip Injury and Jay-Roy Grot down with an infection will be missing.

Bielsa will depend upon the likes of Patrick Bamford, Tyler Roberts, Harrison McGahey and the lighting fast Helder Costa on the flank to counter attack swiftly and break down a somewhat shaky City defence on Saturday.

Bramford will be someone to watch out for, having already scored 4 goals in this season so far.

The Leeds line-up could look like the one that was fielded in the Sheffield win: Meslier (goal), Ayling, Koch, Cooper, Dallas, Phillips, Klich, Costa, Harrison, Roberts, Bamford.

The Leeds side although fierce in their counter-attacks could be susceptible when it comes to defence as they showed against a somewhat weak Fulham side that shipped in 3 goals past them.

Saturday's encounter at Bramall Lane could be a closely fought one with goals coming on either side but City are the slight favourites to take 3 points from the Elland Road clash.
