English Premier League Preview – Manchester City vs Bournemouth Prediction – Sept 17, 2016 – Etihad Stadium
Bournemouth along with clubs like Leicester City, Burnley, Crystal Palce and Watford are among the seven clubs currently tied on four points on the EPL table. Their League positions ranging from 10th to 16th spot. Our Manchester City vs Bournemouth prediction though rests more on the ability and current performances of the Citizens.
Bournemouth is in 14th place and can boast of just a solitary win, that against West Bromwich Albion (12th spot). Bournemouth's hopes will lie on Callum Wilson, their 24-year old English striker, who gave them their winning goal against West Brom. The club's morale got a minor boost with the arrival of Jack Wilshere on loan from Arsenal.
The potential impact Wilshere could have on the club's midfield remains to be seen. Whether Wilshere would be able to feature in Bournemouth's playing XI against Manchester City this Saturday is another matter.
Few are giving the Cherries a chance at the Etihad on the 17th against a Manchester City that has registered one of their best starts to the season. They have won all four of their encounters including the vital win against bitter city rivals Manchester United 2-1 last Saturday. They have pumped in as many as 11 goals so far, the highest by any team this season. Even without an injured Sergio Aguero they are looking incredible. Kevin De Bruyne is playing at his best and so is Nolito, the 29-year old Spanish import, both giving defenses plenty to worry about.
Apart from the three goals they conceded in their loss to Manchester United, the Cherries have let in just two in their remaining three matches underlining resilience in defense. But that resilience could be severely put to test at the Etihad against a blistering Man City attack.
Pep Guardiola's men are outright favorites for this September 17th's clash as evidenced from the odds below. The Citizens were huge winners in both their encounters with Bournemouth last season with scores of 5-1 at home and 4-0 away. As such a similar correct scoreline prediction could be on the cards.
Manchester City probable starting XI (4-3-3 formation): Bravo (goal); Sagna, Stones, Otamendi, Kolarov; De Bruyne, Fernandinho, Silva; Sterling, Iheanacho, Nolito
Bournemouth probable starting XI (4-4-1-1 formation): Boruc (goal); Smith, Francis, Cook, Daniels; Ibe, Arter, Surman, Stanislas; King; Wilson
