Leicester v Arsenal Prediction and Preview
Kick off: 5.30pm Saturday 20/08/2016
Despite successful pre-season, both teams suffered defeats during the league-opening weekend and will put their best fight to get back in the game.
Despite the team phenomenal achievement last season, Leicester has displayed a slow start having lost their last two games: one to Manchester in the community shield and the other to troubled Hull City.
The odds for Leicester keeping the title is low with their coach Claudio Ranieri aiming 40 points this season. Still losing the first game of the season to a newly promoted team was least expected. This comes despite having kept most of its top players such as Jimmie Vardy and Mahrez except N’Golo Kante who moved to League rivals, Chelsea.
A win against Leicester on home turf is difficult with Arsenal been the only team bag all points. The Foxes need to maintain that resilience if they intend to remain in the top four or even the league itself. Should their attack come out like last season, the Gunners stand to lose their second game in a row.
It is not news Arsenal losing its first league games as recent statistics shows. Surprisingly, the team always maintain its top-four spot and always on the verge of winning the league, except that it does not live to it.
To the team and its fans, last weekend was a bittersweet experience after losing 4-3 to the vibrant Liverpool despite taking the lead through Theo Walcott 31st minute goal. All the blame went to Arsene Wenger summer on inactivity which has left the team short on both ends of the field.
The team enjoys a boost with the return Euro 2016 trio: Mesut Ozil, Oliver Giroud and Laurent Koscielny who had an extended rest. However, Ramsey is ruled out for a month after picking a hamstring injury during last weekend encounter with Liverpool.
Head to head
Despite losing the opener game, Arsenal will pitch the match as the favourite having won both of last season home and away games against Leicester. They also edge their rival in recent years with the Foxes failing to win any of their last 19 league encounters.
Leicester has already proved their mettle in last year league campaign and with the teams exposed at the back we expect to see goals from both sides. Best prediction is the game ending square.
