Leicester City 0 West Ham 3 – King Power stadium
David Moyes' Hammers stun Leicester City
After stunning the Wolves 4-0 last weekend, Carlo Ancelotti's Hammers popped up another surprise when they beat Leicester City 0-3 away at King Power stadium on Sunday.
The Foxes lost an opportunity to move to the top of the table and were outplayed in every department by the visitors.
After a 5-2 thrashing of Manchester City a week ago this was a sheer anti-climax for Brendan Rodgers' men. So dismal was the Foxes' show that they couldn't even land a single shot on target from their four attempts on goal.
Boss David Moyes was absent for West Ham on the touchline down with Covid-19 but Alan Irvine was there to deputize for West Ham that had grown in confidence immensely over the week.
A foul by Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu out wide on the right resulted in a quick short free-kick that found Aaron Cresswell in the deep.
The left-back essayed a pin-point cross for Michail Antonio to perfectly head in to the far-post to give the visitors the opening goal in the 14th minute.
With prime initiator of goals, Jami Vardy, struggling upfront it was only a matter of time before the Hammers found their second.
Cresswell was the architect once more as the defender's long ball forward found Pablo Fornals who brought the ball under control, steadied himself before unleashing a low shot past Kasper Schmeichel. 2-0 for the Hammers in the 34th minute.
Leicester had one of their rare moments after the interval when Hammers' goalie Lukasz Fabianski's poor clearance fell to Harvey Barnes whose volley flew wide.
West Ham looked the more threatening side going forward and would have found a third soon after if Jonny Evans had not blocked Fornals' effort inside the six-yard box. More attempts came the visitors' way as Declan Rice struck the crossbar.
The Hammers scored their third when Jarrod Bowen sealed the win with a neat finish after collecting a through-ball from Fornals.
There was some life for the Foxes' game in injury time but Vardy chipped a glorious chance wide before Barnes then had a goal disallowed by VAR after Vardy was found marginally offside in the build-up.
The King Power win allowed West Ham to break into the top half and they are currently placed at 10th on the Premier League table.
Arsenal 2 Sheffield United 1 – Emirates stadium
Second half goals by Saka and Pepe propel Arsenal into the Top four
In a game that went into half-time goalless with Mikel Arteta's Gunners playing well below-par, two quick goals post interval from Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe saw the hosts prevail over a difficult Sheffield side at the Emirates on Sunday.
The Gunners' first came at the stroke of the hour when Saka headed home into the far post from a Hector Bellerin cross and 3 minutes later Pepe finished a 19-pass move with a shot to the bottom corner of the Sheffield net.
The hosts spent a nervy last seven minutes as David McGoldrick's brilliant curling effort from outside the box in the 83rd earned the Blades' their first goal of the season from the four games they have played so far.
The result leaves Sheffield United without a point as Chris Wilder's men find themselves one place away from the bottom in the 19th.
The Gunners edge into the Top four with 9 points from their 4 games and are a notch below 3rd placed Leicester on goal difference.
