Arsenal fight back to draw with Spurs
Arsenal and Spurs played out a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Arsenal and Tottenham lost ground on the early Premier League pacesetters after sharing an entertaining 2-2 derby draw at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday (Arsenal 10/11 – Premier League Top 4 Finish).
Both sides went into the game on the back of defeats last weekend, while Saturday successes for Liverpool and Manchester City meant three points were an added importance in addition to the bragging rights.
It was Spurs who started well and they took a two-goal lead when Christian Eriksen’s 10th minute strike was added to by a Harry Kane penalty five minutes before the break.
Alexander Lacazette pulled one back before half-time and the Gunners deservedly equalised through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang inside the final 20 minutes.
Aubameyang, who has now scored in seven consecutive home matches, said: “In the first-half we deserved to score two goals, but that’s what happened.
“We are not happy but we did a great job. It was a tough game, but we played well. We maybe deserved more tonight.”
Arsenal are fifth in the table – five points behind Liverpool – while Spurs are down in ninth on five points having now gone eight away games without a win.
Meanwhile, Everton sit in sixth spot level on points with Arsenal after they edged a five-goal thriller against Wolves at Goodison park.
Richarlison scored a brace for the Toffees with Alex Iwobi’s first goal for the club sandwiched in between.
Romain Saiss and Raul Jimenez had twice levelled for Wolves but Nuno Espirito Santo’s side remain without a win and are outside of the relegation places on goal difference (Wolves 28/1 – Premier League Relegation).
