Both last seasons games ended in draws & who will forget the return fixture last season when Arsenal gave away a 4-2 lead to concede two very late goals (half the away support had gone home). Last weekend Arsenal threw away a two goal lead to draw at West Ham & Spurs surprisingly lost at home to Stoke City 1-0. Both sides will be hoping to make up for those results & get back to winning ways as soon as possible. Both sides have good attacking teams but in my opinion Arsenal have the superior forward line. As if to compensate for the neutral supporter who might watch their games Arsenal have a crap defence which makes their games good to watch. I think Arsenal will win this one but it will be close, High scoring & above all entertaining.

Chelsea bounced back to form last Saturday by thrashing Blackburn 5-0 but it is their away form that has dipped with two defeats on the trot at Wigan & Aston Villa. As the other sides around them at the top have been dropping points as well this means that they are top. Bolton meanwhile had a very good win against Everton last week even though they gave away a two goal lead at one point. This is the type of game that Chelsea have to win in order to win the title. There will be pressure on Chelsea because of their two previous away defeats & because of this I feel the game will be close with Chelsea just shading it.

Burnley lost at home for the first time last Saturday against an improved Wigan. As their away form is so bad it is important that Burnley get back to winning ways & what better team to face than Hull. Hull managed a 0-0 draw at home to Portsmouth last week (as I predicted) in what was a disappointing result for them. They have managed only two wins all season & both of those were at home. They have only gained one point away from home & that was a lucky 1-1 draw at Wolves. I really can’t see Hull winning this as they seem determined to go down. I think the only thing that will save them is a change of manager. Three points to Burnley.

Everton have now lost three on the bounce with their midweek defeat to Spurs in the League cup. Last week as already mentioned they lost 3-2 at Bolton & prior to that they lost 5-0 at Benfica in the UEFA cup which was their heaviest defeat in Europe. Can they Bounce back against a Villa side that is doing well. Villa drew at Wolves last week & they will look upon that as two points dropped. Their last visit to Merseyside resulted in a 3-1 win at Liverpool earlier in the season & of course last season in the same fixture they grabbed a late winner in a thrilling 3-2 win. Can they do the same again? After winning on penalties at Sunderland in the league cup I think the answer is yes.

Liverpool bounced back from a very bad run by beating Manchester United 2-0 last Sunday & they deserved the win as it was no fluke. So with Torres back & scoring will Liverpool be able to take their form from last Sunday into this game? I think they will because they are a different side with Torres & Gerhard playing. Fulham did well last week in coming from behind to draw at Manchester City, something I didn’t think they would do. Liverpool to win but Fulham will make it hard for them.

Last week I predicted that Chelsea would beat Blackburn easily at home. They did & this week I predict the same outcome for Blackburn in this game. Manchester United had a 2-0 win at Barnsley in the week in the league cup & the Liverpool defeat is their only defeat since they lost at Burnley in the first week of the season. Not hard to predict this fixture.

Wigan had a good away win at Burnley last Saturday. In fact, Wigan have been having some good results this season but I keep getting their predictions hopelessly wrong . They should win this game. Portsmouth are having a dreadful season but picked up their forth point in three games with a draw at Hull last Saturday. They were a bit unlucky in their last home when they lost to spurs 2-1. I think Portsmouth will win this game (I have a 100% prediction rate with them this season) but as I can’t seem to get a Wigan Prediction right I would go for the opposite of what I say.

Stoke are doing well & their 1-0 away win at Spurs last weekend was a great victory which by all accounts they deserved. Wolves meanwhile got a useful home point in a home draw with Aston Villa which was also a good result for them. Stoke have improved since last season and are proving difficult to beat having only lost to teams from the big four. Wolves will find this game tough & I will be really surprised if they manage to come away from this game with a point but we are talking football predictions here. Still, I feel that Stoke will have too much for Wolves in this game. A home win.

Sunderland will be really disappointed with last weeks result at Birmingham as well as their midweek defeat to Aston Villa on penalties in the League cup. West Ham meanwhile got a very good draw at home to Arsenal after coming from two goals down. Sunderland’s home form is good this season with only the one defeat & that was to Chelsea in their first home game. Since then they have beaten Wolves (5-2), Blackburn (2-1), Hull (4-1) & Liverpool (1-0). These results therefore indicate that a Sunderland victory & who am I to argue with that…A Sunderland home win.

Last week I said that Manchester City would win easily against Fulham, I also said that Sunderland would win at Birmingham. How little do I know. This time I am going to stick my neck out & predict that Manchester City will beat Birmingham & beat them well. Birmingham are a poor side & I am hoping that their new owners see common sense & get rid of their manager before he takes them down to the championship (Division 2 to most of us). A home win for the proper team in Manchester.
