Premiership Predictions
Premiership Predictions, Correct Score Weekend Football Tips for 21 ~ 22/11/09
Hello everyone again & I hope you are looking foreword to this weekends Premiership fixtures after the International break. Two weeks ago I correctly predicted Four results & one correct score. The Correct score was Wigan drawing 1-1 with Fulham. My other correct results were Arsenal winning at Wolves, Aston Villa beating Bolton & the best one, Chelsea beating Manchester United. My Result rate is still %50+. I should have guessed that Liverpool are even worse than I thought as they only drew with Birmingham & that only because of a dreadful penalty award against the Blues.
Enough of the self congratulating & lets head into this weekends fixtures.
Match 1: Birmingham - Fulham: (Saturday 3pm):
This is a difficult one to predict as both sides are on form. Birmingham are three games unbeaten since their defeat at Arsenal. They beat Sunderland & have drawn with Manchester City & Liverpool. The Liverpool game was one that they were cheated in as Liverpool’s second goal to drag them level was a dive by the Liverpool player to win them a penalty. None the less a good result for the Blues that says more about Liverpool’s decline then it does Birmingham’s mini improvement. Fulham recorded a 1-1 draw away at Wigan last Sunday which now means that they have only lost once in seven games (a unlucky 2-1 defeat at Roma) since they lost to Arsenal at the end of September. I get the feeling that Birmingham’s improved home form will just shade it for the Blues & result in a narrow home win for them.
Result Prediction: Birmingham to win
Score Prediction: Birmingham City 2 Fulham 1
2. Burnley - Aston Villa: (Saturday 3pm):
Burnley have recovered well since their first home defeat of the season to Wigan a few weeks ago. They have recovered to beat Hull at home & draw at Manchester City 3-3 in their last game. This gave them their first away point of the season. Will they get a result against another top four hopeful? Aston Villa meanwhile had a thumping 5-1 victory over Bolton after losing rather unluckily against West ham in their previous away game. I think that Villa will just shade this game which they need to do if they are to carry on the pressure for a top four finish.
Result Prediction: Aston Villa to win a close game
Score Prediction: Burnley 1 Aston Villa 2
3. Chelsea - Wolves: (Saturday 3pm)
This is a rather easy game to predict I feel. Chelsea have won all their home games so far in all competitions & Wolves have only won the once away from home (Wigan). To be fair Wolves have had a good couple of draws away at Everton & in their last away game at Stoke when they came from 2-0 down at Half Time to draw 2-2. I think that Wolves are just going to stay up this season but they are onto a hiding from nothing in this game I’m afraid. Chelsea won their last home game 1-0 against Manchester United which could prove to be the difference between them winning the title this season. An easier home victory for Chelsea this time around than the 1-0 victory over Manchester United victory & another three points towards their title march.
Result Prediction: Chelsea to Extend their winning home form
Score Prediction: Chelsea 3 Wolves 1
4. Hull City - West Ham: (Saturday 3pm):
This is a difficult result to call. West Ham came back down to earth after beating Aston Villa by losing at home to Everton the following Sunday. They need to get something out of this game as Hull are above them in the table (somehow) by a point. Hull managed to win their last game at home to Stoke which was a good result considering their season so far in comparison to Stoke’s. They did it the hard way as well by coming from behind. I think West Ham will edge this game & put more pressure on Phil Brown who I am amazed has managed to keep his job thus far. A vital away win for the Hammers it is.
Result Prediction: An away win for West Ham
Score Prediction: Hull City 1 West Ham 2
5. Liverpool - Manchester City: (Saturday 12.45pm):
Liverpool are having a dreadful season. Virtually out of Europe, out of the Premiership race as they have five defeats already. They could only draw at home with lowly Birmingham last time out & this now means that they have dropped 17 points so far this season. Compare this with Chelsea (6 points), Arsenal (8 points) & Manchester United (11 points) & you see why they are as good as out of the title race. They were also knocked out of the League Cup by Arsenal. In effect they are playing for an UEFA cup place through the league or FA Cup. Ha,Ha. Manchester City on the other hand are one of the sides hoping to take their place in the top four but even though they have only lost the once this season they have drawn their last five league games to leave them in sixth place just behind Aston Villa & Tottenham. They are only five points behind Manchester United. Unlike Liverpool they are still in the League cup & must fancy their chances of winning that competition. I think Manchester City will add to Liverpool’s woes but will it be a draw or a win for them? I think they will win.
Result Prediction: City to end their winless run
Score Prediction: Liverpool 1 Manchester City 3
6. Manchester United - Everton: (Saturday 5.30pm):
Manchester United are not playing that well so far this season & have now lost three games already. They are however unbeaten at home & have only dropped points in the one game (2-2 against Sunderland). They lost their last game 1-0 at Chelsea & as per usual Alex Ferguson moaned about the ref. What a tosser. Everton had a good result last time out winning at West Ham which stopped a bad run for them as they had lost four out of their previous five including two games against Benfica in Europe. I think Manchester will win this game but it will be close. A narrow win for the home side.
Result Prediction: Manchester United to win.
Score Prediction: Manchester United 2 Everton 1
7. Sunderland - Arsenal: (Saturday: 3pm):
Arsenal are playing well at the moment. They have not lost a game since their 4-2 defeat at Manchester City in September. They won 4-1 at Wolves in their last game which was their sixth victory out of their last seven league games. Van Persie is out for six weeks after being injured on international duty at the weekend but I don’t expect his absence to count against the gunners in this game. Sunderland have not won since they beat Liverpool with their beach ball but have been playing reasonably well. Still think that Arsenal will win this game though. Another away win for Arsenal.
Result Prediction: Arsenal to win
Score Prediction: Sunderland 1 Arsenal 3
8. Bolton - Blackburn: (Sunday 1.30pm):
Bolton got a right thrashing at Aston Villa in their last game losing 5-1. They had been playing well until that result as was proved by their 3-2 home victory over Everton in their last home game. Blackburn are just two points ahead of their Lancashire rivals at the wrong end of the table. Even tough Blackburn’s home form is good their away form is crap & they have suffered some heavy defeats on the road (6-2 Arsenal, 5-0 Chelsea, 3-0 Everton) but I feel they have to get a point sooner or later away from home & I feel this Is the game for them to get their account going away from home. A rather Scrappy low scoring draw methinks. Especially because of the type of football both sides play. If I was Bolton I would lower admission prices for this game.
Result Prediction: A score draw
Score Prediction: Bolton 1 Blackburn 1
9. Stoke - Portsmouth: (Sunday 4pm):
Stoke lost their last game rather surprisingly at Hull 2-1. They had been on a good run until this result having won at Tottenham 1-0 in their previous away game. They drew their last home game 2-2 with wolves but this was after they had lead 2-0 at half time. Portsmouth’s mini run came to an end with a 3-1 defeat at Blackburn. They are still bottom, have a transfer embargo in place & nobody seems to know who owns the club? Things couldn’t be much worse & to be honest they are about to starting with defeat at Stoke in this game. Not good to be a Portsmouth fan.
Result Prediction: Stoke City to win
Score Prediction: Stoke City 2 Portsmouth 1
10. Tottenham - Wigan: (Sunday 3pm):
Tottenham recovered from losing at Arsenal to beat Sunderland 2-0. This was a good result for them irrespective of the performance as they had lost their last two league games to Arsenal & Stoke. They had won 2-0 against Everton in the league cup in-between these defeats & with the Sunderland Victory they have now moved up to forth place, somewhere they would love to be come the end of the season. Wigan meanwhile are sitting just below mid-table having had a mixed bag of results so far. They are the only side to win at Burnley, have beat Chelsea yet got beat easily at Portsmouth. Go figure. A home win but with Wigan you never really know.
Result Prediction: Tottenham to win
Score Prediction: Tottenham 3 Wigan 1
That’s it for this week boys & girls. See you next week.
