Premiership Predictions, Correct Score Football Tips for 15th & 16th December 2009

Hello everyone. Here we are again but this time for a (nearly) full mid-week Premiership fixture list. The weekend just gone was very weird with seven draws out of ten fixtures which must be some type of record in recent times. As I had predicted no draws in my article for the weekend then I was stuffed. So was everybody else in the media as well which is some consolation. The two Results I correctly Predicted were Birmingham beating West Ham & my Favourite prediction of Arsenal beating Liverpool at Anfield. This result therefore gets my award for best predicted result of the week.

Best Predicted result of the Previous week - “Arsenal beating Liverpool away”

See you all at the weekend & good luck.

Match 1: Birmingham - Blackburn: (Tuesday 8pm):

Birmingham are on a really good run. As I stated last week. They proved that by beating West Ham on Saturday (As I Predicted) 1-0. Their unbeaten run is now seven games with five of them resulting in wins. They face a Blackburn side who managed a 0-0 draw at Hull on Saturday. Birmingham are above Blackburn in the table by five points. In fact Birmingham are 8th while Blackburn are 14th. Blackburn’s away form is poor as they have only managed to avoid defeat in two of their away games so far this season. Apart from Hull on Sat they managed a win at struggling Bolton a few weeks ago. I predict that Birmingham will carry on their good form and beat Blackburn.

Result Prediction: Birmingham to win

Score Prediction: Birmingham 2 Blackburn 0

Match 2: Bolton - West Ham: (Tuesday 8pm):

Bolton managed a 3-3 draw with Manchester City on Sat’ which doesn’t mean that much as everybody bar Chelsea seems to be drawing with Manchester City these days. This point was not enough for Bolton to climb out of the relegation places as Wolves had an amazing win at Spurs which pulled them further away from Bolton but Bolton did at least move the one point closer to the Hammers as they have now dropped into the relegation places just the one point above Bolton. This obviously makes this game important. I think West Ham will sneak a win here. This is based on the fact that I think they are a better side then Bolton & have been playing better than them this season.

Result Prediction: West Ham to win

Score Prediction: Bolton 1 West ham 2

Match 3: Manchester United - Wolves: (Tuesday 8pm):

Manchester United had a shock 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend which will have pissed off their part time supporters no end. I simply cannot remember the last time that they lost two games at home back to back & I really can’t see that happening in this game. Wolves must take an enormous amount of credit for an excellent away win at Spurs on Saturday which lifted them out of the bottom three. This was their second victory in succession after they had beat Bolton at Home the previous week. Massive points for them in their quest for staying up & that win could prove very important come the end of the season. Their little run will I fell come to end in this game as Manchester will want a quick return to form. One thing that is becoming apparent however is that Manchester are not playing as well as last season.

Result Prediction: Manchester United to win

Score Prediction: Manchester United 3 Wolves 0

Match 4: Sunderland - Aston Villa: (Tuesday 7.45pm):

Sunderland conceded a late goal to draw at home with Portsmouth on Saturday which was a disappointing result after they had lost two consecutive away games. In fact if you took out their home wins against Liverpool & Arsenal then Sunderland would be on a really bad run. Aston Villa meanwhile had a great victory at Manchester United which opens up the title race even more. You could argue that Villa themselves are outsiders for the title as they are only eight points off Chelsea themselves. If Villa managed to win the title it would do more good for English football then any of the top four winning the title. I think Villa are getting themselves on a really good run at present and that it will continue against Sunderland in this game. Won’t be easy for them though.

Result Prediction: Aston Villa to win

Score Prediction: Sunderland 1 Aston Villa 2

Match 5: Burnley - Arsenal: (Wednesday 7.45pm):

Arsenal had a great win at Liverpool on Sunday which keeps them in the Premiership title race & condemns Liverpool to a season of even more crap. Ha-Ha. They came from behind as well which was good. Burnley only managed a 1-1 draw at home with Fulham in the type of game you need to win if you are to avoid getting involved in a relegation scrap. They are now only four points off the bottom three & need a win to keep them away. They haven’t won since the last Saturday of October when they beat Hull. Arsenal’s reserve side lost at Burnley in the League cup last season & expect their to be no repeat of that result tonight.

Result Prediction: Arsenal to win

Score prediction: Burnley 1 Arsenal 3

Match 6: Chelsea - Portsmouth (Wednesday 7.45pm):

Chelsea got pegged back three times against Everton on Saturday to draw 3-3. This was a very disappointing result for them but with Manchester United losing they increased their lead at the top to three points. The title race is now becoming very interesting with Arsenal in the running as well now. Portsmouth have had a dreadful season as everybody knows but they are trying to get out of the hole they have dug themselves into & they went some of that way towards that by drawing at Hull on Saturday 0-0. I really can’t see Chelsea messing up two home games on the trot but the way this season has gone so far nothing would surprise me.

Result Prediction: Chelsea to win

Score Prediction: Chelsea 3 Portsmouth 0

Match 7: Liverpool - Wigan: (Wednesday 8pm):

Liverpool lost again on Sunday, this time at home to Arsenal. This was their sixth defeat of the season already which says an awful lot about how badly they are playing. All they have to play for now is pride & the Inter Toto Cup. I am not sympathetic towards their plight mainly because of the thousands of their part time aggressive fans who only watch their games in the pub. Wigan meanwhile drew at Stoke City 2-2 which was a good result for them but they should have had all three points as they missed a late penalty. I think Liverpool will struggle in this game but will just have enough to get the three points.

Result Prediction: A Liverpool win

Score Prediction: Liverpool 2 Wigan 0

Match 8: Tottenham - Manchester City: (Wednesday 8pm):

Spurs had a dreadful result against Wolves on Saturday losing 1-0. It is now three games since they thrashed Wigan 9-1 and they haven’t won any of them. Two draws & the one defeat tell their own story in games too be honest they could & should have won. Aston Villa have now gone above them in the table & they need to start winning again to lay their claim for a top four place. So the other question is what Manchester City side will turn up, the one that can’t stop drawing or the one that beats Arsenal (reserves) & Chelsea. I think Manchester City will win because they can’t keep drawing the amount of games that they are doing so (eight in the last nine League games). Therefore my prediction of a Manchester City win means that it will be a draw …..

Result Prediction: Away win for Manchester City

Score Prediction: Spurs 1 Manchester City 2

That’s all until the weekend.
