Barclays Premiership: To Finish Bottom
Watford Set To Finish Bottom Of The Pile
even money available with Coral for Watford to finish the season bottom of the PremiershipBet Advised: Wednesday 20th December 2006
Charlton Athletic and Watford are beginning to be cut adrift at the foot of the Premiership and, even though it's still relatively early days, it is already difficult to look beyond these two as to who will finish the season at the foot of the table.
As things stand, Charlton would appear to have more cause for concern given recent form but, although it has to be questioned whether Les Reed is the right man for the job, there is realistically more chance of The Addicks escaping the drop than The Hornets.
Both clubs will look to strengthen their squads in the coming transfer window, but while Watford will be operating with a typically small budget, Charlton have already had a £3 million bid for Hibernian midfield duo Kevin Thomson and Scott Brown turned down, so it seems they are determined not to go down without a major fight.
Coupled with that is the fact that Watford has won just the one league game this season to date. Charlton might be struggling to avoid defeat, but without victories Watford are doomed.
The even money available with Coral for Watford to finish the season bottom of the Premiership looks reasonable value under the circumstances.
