Peterborough Worth Punting For Promotion
Given the vast expenditure in the squad and the calibre of players on the books, it's been a disappointing showing from Peterborough United in League Two this term.A run of eight straight defeats either side of the New Year were particularly disastrous and led to the dismissal of manager Keith Alexander.
New boss Darren Ferguson (son of Sir Alex) was appointed for his first role in management and after a shaky start, looks to be turning things round. Aftera run of 10-points from their last five matches, Posh are now within eight points of the play-offs, albeit with games fast running out.
The one team they might be able to catch for that elusive play-off spot looks to be Wycombe Wanderers and with Paul Lambert's men still to visit London Road this term, they do still have an outside chance of sneaking into the top seven.
Should they make it, Peterborough may well go into the play-offs as favourites to secure promotion, given both the momentum they will have and the quality of their squad.
The 28-1 available with Coral for Peterborough to win promotion therefore looks a good value punt, albeit one on which to only risk a minimal stake.
