There has been much speculation as to which players might follow Sam Allardyce from Bolton wanderers to Newcastle United since Big Sam's appointment as manager at St James's Park.
Ladbrokes have opened a book on the market, with Trotters' captain Kevin Nolan being the odds-on favourite.
While Allardyce would no doubt be more than happy to sign Nolan, the player may feel obliged to stay loyal to Bolton for the short-term at least.
A better option could be Israeli defender Tal Ben Haim, who is now out of contract and therefore immediately available.
With Newcastle's defence being subjected to ridicule for much of the past year or so, it is little surprise that Allardyce has already released four of them.
He will be looking to bolster his options at the back quickly, so the availability of Ben Haim looks ideal. Ladbrokes price of 5-1 on him being the first Newcastle signing from Bolton by Allardyce looks very tempting.
