Hibernian Should Be Up For The Cup
Hibernian play Dunfermline Athletic for the second time in a week on Sunday, with everyone at the Edinburgh club hoping for a decidedly different outcome to last week, when the Pars not only secured a 1:0 victory in SPL action, but there was also a delegation of senior players who met with chairman Rod Petrie to lodge a complaint about manager John Collins after reports of a heated exchange between Collins and his players.
Even so, Collins seems to be keeping his focus on the task in hand and there is little doubt that, while Dunfermline are an improving team of late, the quality is with Hibernian. There are other factors to take into account here, with this Scottish Cup semi-final being played on neutral territory at Hampden and with Hibernian having already won one cup competition this term (the CIS Insurance Cup) - their first trophy in 16 years - they will be keen to have a crack at a second piece of silverware.
In addition, Dunfermline will be missing on-loan Hibernain player Stephen Glass, suspended midfielder Stephen Simmons and cup-tied striker Tam McManus.
Despite the problems behind the scenes at Easter Road, the 8-11 with Ladbrokes on the Hibernian win looks a decent price.
