June/July/August 2007:
Forest - League One Under the circumstances, the 6-5 available with William Hill on the Forest win looks a perfectly decent price. Loss
Scottish Division One - Dunfermline This Saturday they play host to Stirling Albion, a team who have drawn all three of their opening league games. This is a match the Pars should win and, even though they could be somewhat distracted by the UEFA Cup trip to Sweden's Hacken the following Thursday, the 8-13 on the Dunfermline victory with bet365 looks a value punt. Win
Maidstone - Ryman Premier Division At this early stage of the season it would be advisable to keep bets to a minimum, but the 6-4 available with Skybet on the Maidstone victory looks like a speculative punt worth risking. Loss
Santos - Mexican Football This Sunday they play host to a limited Veracruz side who could well be in relegation danger themselves and the 5-6 available with SkyBet on the home victory looks a reasonable punt as a consequence. Win
Sunderland - Premiership Ladbrokes offer Sunderland at 21-25 on the Asian Handicap 0,+0.5. That looks a decent punt, ensuring that even if the game finishes as a draw, you will win half your stake multiplied by the price, with half your stake returned. Loss
Colchester United - Championship Add in the factor that Colchester have been very strong at their tiny Layer Road ground for a few years now and the 17-20 available on the home win with Expekt looks to have a bit of value about it. Loss
West Bromwich - Championship The 4-5 available on the home win with William Hill looks a decent price given the quality in their ranks. Win
MK Dons - League Two The 6-4 on the MK Dons victory with bet365 looks to be a bet with some value. Loss
Dordrecht - Dutch 2nd Division Dordrecht made a decent push for promotion last term, based largely on having won 13 of 19 home matches. By contrast, TOP Oss struggled badly, just avoiding the drop and winning just two of 19 away games. Loss
Liverpool - Champions League French football is notoriously low-scoring and with Liverpool under Rafael Benitez hardly noted for their gung-ho approach away from home, the 4-7 available with bet365 on under 2.5 goals in the match looks a fair punt, even allowing for the summer signings at Anfield giving them greater attacking options. Win
Maccabi Tel Aviv - Uefa Cup The Turks owe their place in this season's UEFA cup to having finished runners-up in their domestic cup competition last season, but are unlikely to have similar success in this cup competition. The 4-7 for the Maccabi Tel Aviv win with bet365 looks a very decent punt. Loss
Seongnam Ilhwa - Korean - K -League Victor Chandler's price of 3-5 on the away victory looks well worth snapping up given the gulf in quality between the two teams. Win
Guatemalan league That recent form alone is all that can justify Betway going 5-4 on the Heredia win, given the respective long-term home and away records of the two teams, with Heredia having lost just two of their previous 19 home matches, while Zacapa can only point to a single solitary away win in 19 attempts. Win
Dundee United SPL - Spread Betting Sporting Index get a free £200 Total Goals bet
Dunfermline - Scottish Division One The one major rival looks likely to be St Johnstone, but Dunfermline look to have the greater depth and experience in their squad, so the 7-4 available with Coral Free £10 Bet
Nottm Forest v Bournemouth Under the circumstances, Forest should really be nailed on to win the game between the two teams at the City Ground that kicks-off the season on Saturday 11 August, with the 6-5 available on H/T: Forest; F/T; Forest with Coral
Tranmere v Leeds Utd Leeds begin life in League One with an awkward looking trip to Tranmere Rovers and with Wise still far from ceratin as to what sort of team he will be able to send out, the obvious punt has to be on a Tranmere victory. At 17-10 with Totesport, that certainly represents decent value. Loss
Everton v Wigan Everton are never an easy team to beat at Goodison Park and with Titus Bramble set to start at the heart of the visiting defence, the likes of Andy Johnson will certainly fancy their chances of opening their personal accounts on the opeing day. Betfred, Free £50 Bet for a limited time, have quoted Everton at 8-11 for the match, which seems way out of line with other bookies and should be snapped up before they wise up and cut the price. Win
Sunderland - Premiership spread bet Sunderland's quote on the spread with Sporting Index is 9-12, which could be a sell. Even were Sunderland to struggle in the opening months of the campaign, Keane is going to receive further funds in the January transfer window and should be capable of steering the Balck Cats clear of trouble over the course of the season. Pending
Darlington - League Two At 14-1 with Expekt, Darlington look well worth an e/w punt (1/4 odds for a top three finish). Pending
Wigan - Premiership spread bet The spread for Wigan is 22-25, which looks on the low side. Basically you will be in the money if you buy the points with Sporting Index and Wigan are relegated, which given the squad at their disposal, the money being shelled out by their rivals and the relative lack of experience of Hutchings, has to be a fair bet. Pending
Bayern Munich - Bundesliga With no Champions League distractions, Bayern Munich are likely to concentrate almost all their efforts on securing top spot in the league and, although there may still be one or two question marks over them from a defensive viewpoint, there looks to be more than enough quality about them to justify a punt at 8-13 for the title with Bluesq. Pending
Nottingham Forest - League One The 6-1 available with William Hill on Forest to win the League One title looks a fair bet, with 1/4 the odds for an e/w punt on a top three finish. Pending
Championship - Colchester The 11-4 available with Premierbet on the U's to be relegated might prove to be a decent price. Pending
Premiership Without Big Four The signing of Darren Bent is another coup and the 15-8 available on Tottenham to win the Premiership without the Big Four looks a good price from BetFred. Pending
Championship - Barnsley The 13-8 available with Premierbet on Barnsley to be relegated looks reasonable for a team that looks destined to struggle. Pending
Feyenoord - Eredivisie Totesport go a very appealing 16-1 on Feyenoord for the title, with 1/3 odds for a top two place. It's a price that will disappear before too long. Pending
Peru to top Group A in COPA AMERICA evens with Betdirect. Pending
Championship Betandgame's offer of 8-1 on Charlton for the Championship looks like a decent price for a club that seems to be going places again. Pending
League Two Totesport go a standout 12-1 on Macclesfield to be relegated from League Two next term. That is simply too big and has to be snapped up. Pending
Ross County Scottish Division Two There is also the possibility of financial backing from Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed, which would be a significant bonus. The 4-1 available with William Hill for Ross County to win the division looks a decent price. Pending
League Two Relegation With manager Paul Fairclough working with a limited budget and key players from last season such as Simon King leaving and others - Nicky Bailey - looking to move on, the Bees could be set for a season of struggle. Bluesq have priced Barnet at a stand-out 5-1 for relegation next term and that looks well worth snapping up. Pending
Chesterfield League Two Promotion It looks set to be a highly competitive battle to escape from League Two next season, but there should be enough quality about the Spireites to have them in among the promotion contenders. The 14-1 available with Expekt for Chesterfield to win the division looks worth an each way punt, with 1/4 odds for a top three finish. Pending
League Two With two such attack-minded teams, goals would appear likely at Adams Park. The 26-25 on over 2.5 goals in the match with Ladbrokes looks a sound bet under the circumstances. Loss
Cruzeiro - Brazilian Serie A The 13-8 available with Paddy Power
Red Bull Salzburg - Champions League tie Salzburg at 4/5 with Coral
Hamilton Academical - Scottish Division One Taking into account that it will also be the first game of the season, the 9-5 available for the Hamilton win with Expekt looks a price worth taking. Win
Burnley v Leeds The fact that there is a division between these two teams now and that they appear to be heading in different directions off the pitch too, makes the 5-6 on a Burnley win with Coral
Copa America Spread Bet Sporting Index quote a points spread for Argentina of 33-36, based on 60 points for the winner, 40 points for runner-up, 20 points for losing semi-final and 10 points for losing quarter final. Given their qualities, that looks worth a buy, providing a winning bet provided they reach the final. Win
Peru to top Group A in COPA AMERICA evens with Betdirect. Loss
Copa America Bolivia They go to the Copa America finals in Venezuela as rank outsiders and even though their group - Venezuela, Uruguay and Peru - is hardly the most challenging, it is difficult to envisage them finishing anywhere other than at the foot of Group A. The 7-10 on them to do so with Expekt looks good value. Win
Copa America Venezuela Coral go 7-4 on Venezuela to top Group A and that looks a big price for a host nation in a field of four teams. Win
Copa America - Mexico v Chile Bet365 are offering Chile at 11-20 at +1 on the Handicap Result, meaning that you have a winning bet provided they avoid defeat. That looks a fair punt. Win
Copa America With Brazil needing to win and with the Chileans possessing players capable of scoring goals themselves, this is a game in which goals would appear to be on the cards. The 4-6 available with Premierbet on their being over 2.5 goals in the match looks attractive under the circumstances. Win
Shelbourne v Cobh Ramblers Cobh Rangers at 23-10 with William Hill. Loss
Eircom Division One At the time of writing you can get 13-8 on Shelbourne with Coral a price worth taking in the circumstances. The link will take you straight to the available bet and if you don't already have an account remember you can claim a £10 Free matched bet. Loss
Boca Juniors v Cucuta Deportivo Copa Libertadores The 47-50 avialble with VCBet for Boca Juniors -1.5 on the Asian Handicap looks a fair bet, providing a winning punt provided Boca secure the win by at least two goals required to seal their place in the final against Brazil's Gremio. Win
Euro 2008 Qualifier Denmark v Sweden The best bet looks to be Sweden 0,+0.5 on the Asian Handicap with Canbet. That would ensure a full winning bet if the Swedes win in Copenhagen, but would also give you half your stake multiplied by the price, with half your stake returned should the match finish as a draw. Win
Euro 2008 Qualifier Bosnia-Herzegovina v Turkey The Turks have probably gone backwards at international level in recent years, so will see qualification for the finals as imperative. The 47-50 available on them with Canbet -0.5 on the Asian Handicap looks a fair punt, ensuring a winning bet if they are victorious in Sarajevo. Loss
Euro 2008 Qualifier FYR Macedonia v Israel Goals could be at a premium in this game, with Coral's offer of 8-13 on under 2.5 looking a perfectly acceptable price. Loss
Cucuta Deportivo v Boca Juniors Copa Libertadores The 7-5 available with Expekt on the Boca Juniors victory looks a good price for a team that looks so superior. Loss
