Having failed to impress in the goalless draw at home to Macedonia on Saturday, England travel to Croatia needing to show a marked improvement if they are to take anything from what looks potentially like their toughest group game.Croatia are certainly no mugs, having reached the World Cup finals in Germany and having yet to lose a competitive international on home soil in 12 years since gaining independence.
With England also bereft of the services of Steven Gerrard through suspension and with Wayne Rooney yet to rediscover anything approaching his best form, this looks like a game in which England will be hard pushed to come away with anything.
The 9-4 available for the Croatia win with BetFred looks far too big under the circumstances, the price seemingly based on little more than patriotic desire.
