Championship Play-Off
Derby County and West Brom First Booking Football Betting Tip 28/05/07 15:00Baggies Look The Bet For First Booking
Betting on which team will receive the firstbooking in a game is obviously a bit of a risky punt, but the Championship play-off decider between Derby County and West Bromwich Albion looks to offer a decent opportunity for a small stakes punt.
West Bromwich Albion had a fairly woeful disciplinary record over the course of the season, accruing the worst record in the division for cards. Derby County were hardly angels, but they were still considerably less prone to cautions than their opponents on Monday.
William Hill have a market on which team will be the first to be carded, with their prices being 8-11 Derby; evens W.B.A. and 25-1 no bookings. Those prices appear to be based on the belief that, as favourites, the Baggies will be doing most of the pressing, so Derby are therefore more prone to an early booking. Perhaps, but games frequently start with the favourite on the back foot and W.B.A. also look to have more players prone to making a rash challenge (Paul Robinson for starters).
This is not a punt to go overboard on, but the even money W.B.A. to be the first carded team does look a little big.
