Chelsea beat Atletico 4-0 a fortnight ago & Atletico’s manager was sacked after the game. Atletico lost their last league game away 1-0 on Saturday after drawing 1-1 at home on the Sunday after their defeat to Chelsea. They are in bad form & are now in the relegation zone with only seven points to their name. Chelsea meanwhile recovered from two successive away defeats in the league to win 4-0 at Bolton on Saturday. They are top of the premiership which is in complete contrast to Atletico. An away win for Chelsea without too much trouble.

Manchester United won the away game 1-0 two weeks ago without too much trouble which was not what I predicted as I thought they might have trouble & lose. For the Home game I can’t see their being any problems for them. CSKA won their last league game 1-0 last Thursday at home. They are fifth in the Title race but look like they are out of the running for honours this season. Manchester United of course won 2-0 against Blackburn on Saturday which followed their surprise 2-0 defeat at Liverpool the week before (Liverpool’s only win in 7). Manchester united are not playing that well this season but they will still be too strong for CSKA as they proved in the away tie.

Rangers lost 4-1 at home last time out after I predicted they would win a close game 2-1. They did not help themselves by missing a penalty when the score was 1-1 & then scoring two own goals!!! Well done lads, that is really great, not. They will obviously try & recover some lost pride in the return fixture but they are playing so dreadful in Europe that I can’t see them winning a throw inn let alone the match. Rangers League form seems to bear no resemblance to their European form, which says a lot for the standard of the SPL. If Rangers or Celtic came into the English Premiership then they would struggle. Another defeat for Rangers.

Arsenal should have won the away fixture a couple of weeks ago & were sloppy in conceding a late goal to draw 1-1. On Saturday Arsenal beat Spurs 3-0 to continue their great form at home. They have now won nine games in all competitions at home out of err, nine games. So what chance do AZ stand of getting a result in this game? None I would say. Their home form over the years in Europe might be excellent but they are only average at best away, so an easy home win for the Gunners.

Liverpool are on a dreadful run having lost six out of seven games. There only win was bizarrely against Manchester United last Sunday but they followed that up with a 3-1 defeat at Fulham. Great Stuff. Lyon won at Anfield two weeks ago with a late winner after Steven Gerhard had gone off injured in the 25th minute. I think Lyon will win this game as they are doing well in the French league again this season & at time of writing are second in the table behind Bordeaux. They won 1-0 at the weekend to recover from two defeats on the bounce. A defeat here could cost Liverpool dear as it would virtually put them out of the Champions League. It must be time for their manager to go but as I don’t like Liverpool I hope he stays and continues the good job he is doing. Ha.
