The problems at Leeds United over the summer have been well documented, with the club's very survival in doubt, players leaving, a freeze on incoming transfers and staff still awaiting payment of their June salaries.
To such a backdrop, morale in the camp has to be questioned, whatever is said by those at Elland Road. Dennis Wise has a squad that is down to about 15 registered players as things stand, with not a single goalkeeper among them. There are a number of players in on a trial basis, but they must be wondering whether they might be better off looking elsewhere as problems drag on surrounding Ken Bates attempts to reclaim the Golden Share that will enable the club to start recruiting for the new season again.
This Saturday they travel to Championship side Burnley for a pre-season friendly. Burnley had a difficult season in the Championship themselves last season, but eventually managed to haul themselves clear of trouble. The Clarets also look to be building a squad capable of moving up the table over the coming season, with one season being Robbie Blake...from Leeds.
