Blackburn v Reading Premiership Football betting Preview - 13.05.07 Kick Off 15:00

Blackburn Can Aid Reading's UEFA Cup Avoidance

Reading manager Steve Coppell has made it fairly clear that he doesn't want his team to qualify for next season's UEFA Cup, obvious fearing that his relatively small squad would struggle to meet their Premiership goals for next season were they to have to juggle their domestic commitments with those in Europe.

Last weekend's 2:0 defeat at home to Watford was a fairly convenient loss under the circumstances, leaving The Royals going into their last game of the campaign away to Blackburn Rovers knowing that another defeat would ensure that European football next season would be out of the question.

Blackburn have finished the season strongly themselves and retained UEFA Cup qualifying ambitions of their own until Thursday's 1:1 draw away to Tottenham Hotspur. Even so, Mark Hughes is unlikely to allow his players to simply stroll through their final 90-minutes of the season, particularly in front of their own fans. Reading may well go with a weakened team, with contract rebel Steve Sidwell one of those unlikely to feature according to reports.

Under the circumstances, the 61-50 available with Expekt for Blackburn -0.5 on the Asian Handicap looks a nice bet, ensuring a win for any Blackburn victory.
