Barclays Premiership: Aston Villa v Man Utd

Villa Could Prove Awkward Opposition For Man.U
Aston Villa v Man Utd 23 Dec 15:00

Expekt have put up Aston Villa at +1 on the Asian handicap at 39-50, the only major bookie to offer Asian prices for +1. That looks a fair bet, given that even if Villa were to lose by a one-goal margin you would get your money back, whereas a Villa win or draw would result in a full pay-out.

After an excellent start to the season uner Martin O'Neill, Aston Villa has started to struggle alittle in recent games, with the limited size and experience of the squad beginning to have an impact on their ability to chisel out results.

Manchester United have been flying this season, although Sunday's 1:0 defeat away to West Ham United was a major setback in their attempts to wrestle the title away from Chelsea.

With the transfer window looming, a number of the Villa squad are playing for their futures, with O'Neill likely to make two or three major new signings in January, so the Midlanders should be well up for the game with the table-toppers. The fact that there will be a capacity crowd at Villa Park will only increase their desire.

O'Neill is widely regarded as a shrewd manager, so Manchester United are likely to have to work for everything in this match, so a close encounter looks to be on the cards.
