Copa America
Argentina Looking Like Copa KingsThe Copa America kicks-off in Venezuela late on Tuesday (UK time), with Argentina and Brazil predictably installed as favourites for the competition.
The Brazilian threat looks to be somewhat diminished by the fact that coach Dunga's squad is missing some key personnel in the likes of Kaka and Ronaldinho, while theb draw alongside Mexico, Chile and Ecuador is also far from easy.
There are those that would make a case for Mexico or Uruguay, but Mexico are resting some players and come into the competition directly on the back of a tough Gold Cup, while Uruguay are probably too inconsistent to back with any confidence, despite having an easier draw than many.
Argentina coach Alfio Basile has a strong squad at his disposal and it's difficult to envisage them not being in the latter stages of the competition.
Sporting Index quote a points spread for Argentina of 33-36, based on 60 points for the winner, 40 points for runner-up, 20 points for losing semi-final and 10 points for losing quarter final.
Given their qualities, that looks worth a buy, providing a winning bet provided they reach the final.
