With six rounds of matches remaining in the Argentinean league season, the battle for the league title now looks to be down to three teams.
San Lorenzo have been leading the way all season and as things stand they are three points clear at the top with 31-points, with Boca Juniors and Estudiantes, both on 28-points, looking to be the only genuine competition.
The title race opened up somewhat last weekend, when San Lorenzo went down to a 2:1 defeat at Velez Sarsfield, while Boca Juniors were being held to a 3:3 draw at Argentinos Juniors. Those results enabled defending champions Estudiantes to take closer order at the top with a 2:1 win away to Nueva Chicago.
Even though Boca Juniors have the distraction of the Copa Libertadores to contend with, the squad at the disposal of coach Mauricio Macri looks the strongestof the three contenders, featuring as it does the likes of Juan Roman Riquelme, Martin Palermo and Rodrigo Palacio. In addition, they also seem to have the easiest run-in of the title challengers, with home games against Arsenal de Sarandi, Gimnasia Jujuy and Belgrano and away trips to Quilmes, Colon and Lanus looking relatively straightforward.
Consequently, the 6-4 available with BetFred on Boca Juniors to win the title - one they lost so dramatically to Estudiantes last term - looks a decent punt.
