Ajax Can Clean Up In Holland
Dutch League One: Ajax 9/5 with Totesport
PSV Eindhoven have been the dominant force in the Dutch League for a while now, but the departure of their revered coach, Guus Hiddink, to become national team coach of Russia could lead to changes. The PSV squad has lost key personnel over the past year or so and a lesser coach than Hiddink would have suffered as a consequence.
The new man in charge is former Benfica boss Ronald Koeman, but despite some reasonable new faces at the club, the pendulum may have swung in favour of their traditional rivals, Ajax.
The Amsterdam giants also have a new man at the helm in Henk ten Cate, someone who brings a winning mentality with him from his time as assistant to Frank Rijkaard at Barcelona.
He has also made some notable signings, with veteran defender Jaap Stam being the most significant. In addition, Klaas Jan Huntelaar also showed signs towards the end of last term that he is the striker they have been missing for a few years now.
Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar will laso fancy their chances, but at 9-5 with Totesport, Ajax look like a team who might have the requisite quality to reclaim top spot in Holland in the coming campaign.
