AC Milan v Liverpool

Champions League Too Close To Call

Wednesday's Champions League Final in Athens is being widely regarded as an opportunity for AC Milan to claim revenge for their sensational capitulation to Liverpool in the final in Istanbul two years ago.

Although the Italians have been installed as relatively clear favourites for the game, they are by no means a shoo-in. Indeed, until seeing off Manchester United convincingly at the semi-final stage, there were few pundits who were prepared to put forward AC Milan as likely winners of the competition.

Not only are Carlo Ancelotti's men well off the pace in Serie A (pre-season points penalty notwithstanding), but their European performances were not all of the same calibre as that which accounted for the Red Devils in the San Siro, with a somewhat limited Celtic having taken them to extra-time in the round of the last 16.

It is also a team that contains a number of ageing players, particularly at the back, which could give someone like Craig Bellamy an opportunity to exploit their lack of pace in defence.

Kaka is the obvious danger, but Javier Mascherano may well be given the task of tracking his every move in a bid to negate his influence. Obviously Milan may assign Gennaro Gattuso to a similar role in order to stop Steven Gerrard.

This could be a tight, low-scoring encounter, with Rafael Benitez having already proved himself to be tactically astute in European competition.

The bet could therefore be Liverpool at 0,+0.5 on the Asian Handicap at 24-25 with Expekt. That would ensure a winning bet should Liverpool prevail in 90-minutes, but with the safety net of you winning half your stake multiplied by the price, with half your stake being returned if it finishes all square after 90-minutes.
